The only main difference is the body and fingerboard material. V3 is Mahogany body/rosewood fingerboard , and V7's come either in Ash or Alder with ebony fingerboard. The rest is pretty much the same (different bridges but for me that is minor). If you can afford V7, choose the pretty one :)

In a choice between an Affinity series and a Sire, most people would pick the Sire. Tha Affinity series is really the lowest cost and lowest quality of the Squire line. If you want to compare apples to apples, look at the Classic Vibe series and compare them to Sire.

On the Ibanez side, I'd strongly recommend the SR650, a reverse P/J configuration with (0ffshore) Nordstrand pickups and three-band preamp with passive tone control, and a cost of $699.99 street. I have both an SR650, and SR756 (same configuration with different body woods) and am very happy.

In interested in getting a new Jazz and since the Sire V5's & V7's seem like a great vfm atm, I'd like to know which of the two sounds the best stock, in passive mode. Fact is, while I don't really need or care for an active Jazz sound, I do like the colors of the V7's way more (especially the metalic green & burgundy one).
